FLOODING FORCES FOOTBALL & RACE NIGHT CANCELLATION
Following continuous heavy overnight rain, the main car park at Hook Norton Sports and Social Club has flooded to a depth of 8/9 inches and, as a result, cannot be presently used for its intended purpose. In view of this situation and since the car park also provides the main access to the new clubhouse, it has been decided on health and safety grounds to postpone the Senior Football Club's Race Night and Grand Christmas Draw which were due to commence at 8.00pm this evening. Instead, the Football Club has arranged for both
events to take place at the same venue and at the same time on (next) Saturday
20th December after the First Team's home match against Ardley United in the
Oxfordshire Senior Cup.
The Chairman and Committee regret having had to
make the above decision and any inconvenience that it may have caused but in
the circumstances, with the likelihood of still further rain and
impending darkness, coupled with excessive water on surrounding roads, we took
the view that the safety of those attending could be compromised if we went
ahead.
We trust that everyone will understand our dilemma
and, if possible, will endeavour to support the club at both events on the
rearranged date on Saturday coming.
This also affected both 1st and 2nd team football matches home and away. Both games succumbing to the flooding and hence being cancelled. Matches to be re-arranged.
Many thanks, as always
